Happy Birthday, Jill!

Many thanks to Columbus’ Business First for featuring our Peebles Creative Group blog over the past two weeks. Due to that timing, we’re now shining a slightly belated birthday team spotlight this week on Jill Bryan, our Director of Client Services and business development networker extraordinaire.

What led you to the marketing and advertising industry?

I feel like I always had a connection with brands and their marketing. As a child of the 70s, my world was Mattel, Kellogg’s, Crayola, Coca-Cola, Kraft and Kool-Aid. Too much TV and too many jingles likely led to my love of advertising.

What do you love about working here?

The cast of characters. We’re our own little sitcom. Also, Peebles Creative Group respects and supports working parents. As an employee benefit, that’s priceless.

What is one of your favorite client projects that you worked on and why?

My favorite is actually a Glimcher project, when I was a client of Peebles Creative Group. To turn ugly mall construction barricades into gorgeous tapestry wallpaper branded with the message, “Please excuse us as we change into something a little more fabulous” was such a perfect, memorable solution.

What do you spend your time doing when you aren’t at work?

Yoga on the weekends and adventures of all sorts with my daughter, Josie. Bike rides, teaching her how to golf, looking for unique shells on the beach. We took trapeze lessons last month and just spent this past weekend at Cedar Point. She’s a front car, no hands kind of girl like me and I couldn’t be happier about that.

If you weren’t managing accounts for us, what other job would you love to have?

Marketing an amazing retail brand like Chanel or Jimmy Choo. Travel writer covering the museums, restaurants, castles and cathedrals of Europe. Or simply the drink cart girl on a golf course. Fresh air, sunshine and cruising around to people who are generally happy to see you.

Any favorite books, movies, that you’ve been into recently that you’d recommend?

My friends at the Ohio Historical Society are going to cringe at this answer, but I love historical fiction. Ask me about Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, and anything that has to do with the Tudor dynasty. Margaret George’s “The Autobiography of Henry VIII” and Ken Follett’s “The Pillars of the Earth” remain two of my longest, favorite reads of all time.

What would people that you went to high school with say about you?

They say I haven’t aged. (I’m grateful for their inability to tell the truth.) They would also say that my loyalty to friends is timeless. Then they’d ask if you’ve ever seen pictures of my prom hair. Epic 80s.

What would you like to be known for?

Lending an ear or bringing a smile when either is needed, and being someone who made a difference in the lives of those I knew.
